Secrets of the Seawigs

Following on from our pre-publication party (see previous post), here’s a short film by MB Films in which sarah McIntyre and I discuss Oliver and the Seawigs, how we came to write it, and how we work together.

Oliver and the Seawigs – Meet the creators from MB Films on Vimeo.

And Sarah has done a fantastic blog about how she built the six foot high, Marie Antoinette-style wig which she was wearing at the party on Wednesday.  Next time your small daughter (or son) wants to go the school dressed as a princess for World Book Day,  just buy a huge quantity of clingfilm and click this link.

I think that is the best wig I've ever seen.

    Hi Philip,

Further to our conversation on Hound Tor about fanfiction for your books … yes there seem to be a few fan authors out there who write in your universe:

Be a nice author and don't react badly – as my mother used to say; "imitation is the sincerest form of flattery".

I need an email to send you that article I wrote. I also feel very proud of myself today as before we came back to Norfolk (hellish journey with two big hold ups and long diversions) I did some climbing on the tor early this morning. Michael was quite impressed and then climbed back up to the really top bit so I could get a photo of him pointing.

So that's what you spent the money from us buying your books on…making strange wigs…I approve!

Hello Hamstermoon! It was a pleasure to bump into you on Hound Tor. I'll look forward to seeing all these pointing photos. Sorry the journey home was so bad. We drove from here to Suffolk once – I'm never doing that again! You can e-mail me on, and then I can send you the photo I took of you.

Oh, and thanks for the fan fiction – I haven't nerved myself to look at it yet! (What if it's BETTER THAN MINE?)

And yes, Alexander, we've blown it all on wigs, and I believe McIntyre is planning something cake-related for our next book…
